Mr. Mayo is a Certified GIS Professional and Licensed Professional Geoscientist with 20 years of experience in spatial database construction and modeling focusing on projects related to land cover and land use evaluation, hydrogeologic exploration and assessment, and hydrochemical analysis. He has provided technical consulting services to environmental professionals, municipalities, and private entities for projects dealing with aerial and satellite imagery interpretation and analysis, wastewater disposal, storm water management, environmental compliance, public water supplies, and land redevelopment and asset management. He has also provided expert technical support for GIS services and geologic exploration in litigation. Mr. Mayo has taught geology and GIS curricula and applications at area universities and professional programs. He is proficient with numerous
geospatial, geologic, and hydrochemical database and modeling software packages and possesses a working knowledge of environmental regulations.

Representative Projects

Land Cover Classification Modeling: Performed imagery analysis to quantify differences in land cover among individual properties, for an area consisting of several thousand parcels. Analysis was performed in the context of evaluating the variability of exposure
to chemicals in the environment.

Aerial and Satellite Imagery Interpretation: Performed interpretation and analysis of aerial and satellite imagery acquired in the vicinity of a historical dump site. Reviewed information collected during previous environmental investigations and evaluated
landform and land cover changes at and in the vicinity of the site from the 1940s through present day.

Aerial Imagery and LiDAR Data Analysis: Reviewed and analyzed historical aerial photographs and topographic information to evaluate the landform and land cover changes that occurred on and in the vicinity of a site from the 1930s to the early 2000s.
Provided expert opinions in the context of a Clean Water Act litigation.

Land Cover Analysis and 3D Modeling: Reviewed and analyzed historical aerial photographs, environmental investigations, and other records dating back to the 1930s to identify pertinent site features and evaluate changes in land cover and land use to
develop a conceptual model of contaminant release and migration in groundwater. Incorporated a comprehensive set of groundwater quality data into a database to develop 3-dimensional plume representations using Earth Volumetric Studio (EVS) software to illustrate plume evolution over time and improve a transient numerical
model.

Historical Review at a Former Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) Site: Performed a comprehensive historical review from the 1880s to the present to guide site characterization efforts and identify other PRPs at the Site and in its vicinity. Obtained, analyzed, and synthesized historical photographs, maps, and other images along with information and data from hydrogeologic reports and environmental investigations. Developed a web-based GIS mapping application to help communicate the results of the analyses to key stakeholders.
