News & Events

October 22, 2014

The 2014 Annual Meeting of The American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) will take place November 2-5 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California. Gradient scientists Samuel A. Flewelling and Kim Reid will be in attendance.

Featured Talk:
Flewelling, SA; Sharma, M. “Human Health Risk Evaluation for Hydraulic Fracturing Fluid Additives.”
November 3, 1:20 PM, Room 202B

Gradient Attendees:
Samuel A. Flewelling specializes in the behavior of chemicals and fluids in the environment, including chemical transport through groundwater and surface water, fluid-rock interactions, and underground migration of multiple fluid phases (i.e., DNAPL and LNAPL). Some of his recent work on potential migration of constituents in hydraulic fracturing fluid has been published in several peer-reviewed journals.

Kim Reid specializes in environmental chemistry, consumer products, data quality management, and green chemistry. She recently co-authored a peer-reviewed paper describing a hazard scoring tool for products and chemicals used in the oil and gas industry. Kim is an authority on evaluating chemical ingredients and consumer products in a wide range of applications with respect to multiple hazard-scoring and green-chemistry frameworks.
